Explainable AI (XAI) refers to artificial intelligence systems that are able to communicate their actions and decisions in a manner that humans can comprehend. The purpose for XAI to create AI easier to understand, transparent, reliable as well as accountable by explaining the reason and the method by which it reached a specific decision.

📌 Example: Imagine an AI system that is used to provide healthcare that detects disease. If it determines that a patient is suffering from lung cancer the XAI system would then be able to explain what elements (like X-ray images, signs or medical background) have led to this conclusion instead of simply giving the “Yes” or “No” answer.
